Economic Benefits - Business Opportunities

Option 2

The comment supports the establishment of the Arts Hub in the city center, highlighting its potential to enhance Nelson's arts and creativity sector, which is a significant aspect of the region's identity. Locating the Arts Hub near existing cultural venues like the Refinery Art Space and Magenta Art Space is believed to foster a concentrated cultural district, thereby benefiting surrounding businesses. This strategic placement is expected to not only support the arts community but also stimulate local economic growth through increased foot traffic and business opportunities.

Point No Comment
985.6 We support investment in the Arts Hub and the proposal to purchase an existing building. The region is proud of its arts and creativity sector and we know it has been an important of Nelson's branding over decades We encourage council to ensure that this building is in the city centre. The presence of the Refinery Art Space on Hardy Street has been beneficial to the Arts Sector and to surrounding businesses. With Magenta Art Space now located in Selwyn Place on the other side of Rutherford Mews it makes sense to locate it in close proximity.
